PHOOK 2017 Secret Santa

Sign-ups open until the week before Thanksgiving. I'll get parings out the weekend before so everyone can take advantage of sales and such after THX

Gifts should be mailed out by Dec. 15th (last day for your package to get there before Christmas)

1. Post in this thread your interests. Be broad yet specific. Don't ask for drugs

2. PM me your address. If there is someone in particular you want to be matched up with, let me know

3. There isn't really a set amount, its the thought that counts. Past participants have spent anywhere from $20 to over $100.

4. Be creative. It is the unexpected that turn out to be the best gifts.

5. Every year, someone doesn't ship until New Year. Sometimes life gets in the way, but don't wait until the last minute. The whole point is spreading Christmas cheer, not MLK cheer.

This space reserved for more rules as questions are asked.

My favorite thing about gifts is getting to experience things of you. I’m into gifts from the heart of the giver- pieces of your world. I love things that tell a story, such as:

Chipped teacups
Autumn leaves
Snowfall
Old bones
Dusty boots with worn soles
The smell of leather hide
And salt on a stormy night
Old houses that creak when the wind blows
And battered paperback books

I love things that represent your story. Local jars of honey, stones picked from your backyard garden, and bad, handwritten poetry. Or maybe your poetry is good. But honestly, I probably won’t enjoy it as much if it is.

Still hurting as to what to send?
I collect:
Yarn (natural fiber)
Samples of dirt from adventures outdoors. Please tell me the story that goes with the land.
Bones, dried skins, teeth, snake skins, antlers, etc
Raw/rough crystals/minerals. Especially quartz with lots of inclusions.
Nautilus shells
Anything ridiculous that makes you laugh
Hot sauce
Chocolate

Hope this helps.

I hope it picks up... I've been looking forward to this all year! :)

Last year I was way too new to participate, but it was going on right about the same time I started posting and I really enjoyed the threads and thought it was really fun!

Its always a good time. Numbers have been dwindling the past few years, their loss.

mix cd or mix thumb drive...? i like folk/singer songwriter stuff, polished pop, funk, plenty of other stuff... particularly listening to more female vocals lately. ill try to come back and be more descriptive later. stuff you think I've heard of that goes well together or stuff i haven't heard. i don't really love the band phish, i just love a lot of people that do.

local food item- salsa? (spicy)
coffee (med to dark)
chocolate
candy
if you make things, i'd love one. or maybe you write stories and you'll send me a short one. or maybe you don't do any of those things and you'll send me beer and that's great, too.

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while. Here we go:

I like Phish, the Buffalo Bills, NY Yankees, Atlanta Braves, but I have enough of that stuff.

I really like experiences. Concerts, movies, festivals, that sort of thing. Does my secret Santa live in Georgia? Let’s go to a show or a movie. Or do lunch at a place you love. Or go exploring for the day. Whatever. Something fun, cool or different.

Is there an album, band, book or film you really love that not many people know about? Send me that, but tell me why it’s important to you.

That’s what I like. I can buy a Yankees hat anytime, but the life experiences are more valuable to me.
