Isn’t going to be easily eliminated in the World Cup next year?

Bummer.

Please don't make a joke out of this. :(

It's horrible.
I mean, I get it, they "deserved it."
Should've stuck with Klinsmann. Imho.

I really feel bad for the team. Freaking sucks.

Should not have stuck with Klinsmann

Should have sent a lot of players out to pasture a while ago. This will solve that hopefully

Worth it.

I almost agree.
Klinsmann would have realized you can't work the crap out of these guys without rest. His attitude was harsh but his game and strategy were on point.

I really feel bad for Tim Howard. His last opportunity (hopefully, but still) I like him.

I know you watch a lot of soccer, I'm not going to dismiss your opinion solely because you are a female.

I respect your opinion a lot more than someone like BigJibboo who based on this thread obviously doesn't know well we did in the last two WCs.

Klinsmann monkeyed with lineups too much for my liking.

He did. He definitely wasn't a player favorite or a fan fav, for that matter, but I think he coached for the game- not the players. He knew his shit. He controlled more.

And yeah, a few of the players are past their prime but if used properly- we should've had this. I mean, seriously.

I don't know. I'm severely disappointed. I mean, to lose to a sub par team is just the worst. I thought we were a shoe in.

We don't have the speed to compete with the team we were putting out there. Klinsmann did great in lots of ways for US Soccer but he wasn't gonna take us to the next level. We need someone better than Bruce Arena though, that was never going to work

It sucks, but hopefully we make the right moves now to start moving forward instead of backward. Arena was/is backward.

I dont feel bad for the team.
F em
They got what they deserved.
They sucked and get to sit home for 4 years.

I appreciate some of the things they've done, but I'm glad I never have to see Bradley, Howard, Beasley, Guzan, Bedoya, Wondo and most of the rest in a US jersey again.

Keep Yedlin and Pulisic & dump the rest.
Get the 25 best 17-22 year olds around and build a TEAM.
With a consistent lineup and some level of cohesion.

Oh sorry...nothing pointed at you.

I guess I'm just pissed still.
Like I said....some of those guys really helped US Soccer over the last decade plus and I appreciate the contribution....but to end like this is just sooooo painful.

The sense of urgency just was never there. Not last night...not most nights.

I like JoeBuck's let down letter

Hopefully we will get a new coach.

Obviously we'll get new players. But we didn't deserve to lose against Tobago and Trinidad. Come on. Let's be honest. Their own countrymen didn't even show up to support them. That's how bad they are.
I know we did lose, but we didn't deserve to.

I honestly don't care at all if it means I don't have to watch Michael Bradley play for the US team again. I'm sure I'll feel differently next summer but I'm so tired of him

Sure, but if he's not hurt. But that often seems like a long shot.

It's time for big changes. I do not feel bad for anyone involved, from the top on down, except for Pulisic.

They deserved to lose last night.

Yeah, I don't get how they "didn't deserve to lose". Why, because it's 'Merica? Of course they deserved it. Outcome is a direct result of their performance.

So irritating watching a team listless and uninspired, not even pressing until the 87th minute, & even then not with much urgency.

Why even expect the US to be a powerhouse in the most popular sport in the world?

Yeah, I got it. Duh. They lost because they deserved to. It doesn't make it better for me to say that or feel that.
It still sucks.
I wanted us in the cup. That's all.
Carry on.

We have a history of being pretty damn good. I'm not sure if powerhouse is what I'm looking for. Not losing to losers is more what I'm after

We thought we were nearing being level with some of those teams. The US trajectory was heading up and had been for years...or so we thought.

This WC cycle has exposed big flaws in the US system.

I literally had no idea that there was even a chance they could've been eliminated from contention.

I dig soccer. My son plays, I'll watch some premier league with him. I had no idea that there were world cup qualifiers even going on.

That's part of what's wrong with soccer in this country.

We may have been improving, but no where near reaching the top tiers. Just look at how many US players are on elite international clubs. There ain't many.

There is a teenager from Hershey on the best german team. yeah its not premier league, but it is a good team nonetheless.

The best athletes in our country aren't playing soccer. That is our problem. Period.

Top tiers no. Not Spain, Germamy, Brazil levels or anything. More like Sweden or Poland.

But we're actually more like Jamaica or T&T :(

Trump needs to go after them. Just give them hell on Twitter. Talk about not giving 110% for the flag. Failing as Americans. Tell them to change their mascot to McCain

Do you know how surreal it is, that if dime form of what I just said happened, nobody would be shocked

Bottom line: the US mens team is a group of huge losers. Will not pull for a team with that many huge losers ever. Like, its comical how bad they are. Get less huge losers on a team and maybe I'll pull for them.

The Netherlands didn't qualify. I can imagine that's 100x more disappointing to their fans. They are a perennial Euro powerhouse.

One American playing on a Champions League level club (Pulisic). That's it. Sure, there are other Americans playing on mid to lower table EPL and Bundesliga clubs (and I think we've got one or two kids in La Liga and Serie A), but they're all just guys when compared to the talent of the top nations.

US needs to get a training program for the 16-20 year old player to develop, not college . College limits training with the NCAA rules with practice.
