The egg never improves it

The burger would have always been better without the egg

if it's a perfectly cooked, over easy egg it can absolutely improve a quality burger

there's a reason steak tartare is served with a raw egg yolk

Never had it, doesn't seem super appealing imo

I'd try it though

It only doesn't improve it if they overcook the yolk. (Which 75% of the time, they do.) When done correctly...

i agree that i don't think it will ever enhance it.

I like too many other things on my burgers to go for an egg.

onion rings and BBQ sauce > egg

I request my egg sunny side up for this reason. Perfect over easy is better but not many grill/flat-top peeps can pull it off.

Egg over medium is maybe the ultimate topping for a burger. The creamy yolk mixing with the fatty burger grease.... holy cow it’s so delicious.

But yeah, most places overdo the egg, which defeats the purpose.

It might sound crazy but think about it...delicious meat and bread with mayo.

Unless you're just ant-mayo in general

Local bar here has an awesome bacon, cheese, and egg burger. Order it every time I go. Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had.

I'm definitely a fan. As long as the egg is cooked properly.

Place we go to after golf does them perfectly except the last time I went the egg yolk was popped and cooked all the way through. I left it off

IMO, over medium is the key. And frankly I’d rather it be poached, just because most line cooks can’t fry a medium egg if their lives depended on it.

Too runny and you end up sipping up the yolk with your fries. Medium yolk is gooey enough to stick to the burger and bread.

Medium is great but I'll take too runny instead of overlooked

For sure. Runny is acceptable. Hard yolk is not. I’d almost consider sending it back, especially if it was at a fancy joint. More than $10 or 11 and that fucker better know better than sending out an overdone egg.
