Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam Taps Trey Anastasio, Avett Brothers, Les Bros. and More

The 29th annual Christmas Jam hosted by Warren Haynes will again return to the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, NC on December 9.
Among those joining the lineup will be Gov’t Mule, who will reprise their collaboration with Heart’s Ann Wilson (which originally began at this year’s Lockn’ Festival) as well as sets from Trey Anastasio and Classic TAB, The Avett Brothers, Blackberry Smoke and special guests Holly Bowling, Brandon Niederauer, Kevn Kinney, Mike Barnes and more.
Also on the lineup will be Les Bros., a group of Allman Brothers alumni and associates that features Jaimoe, Marc Quinones, Jack Pearson, Lamar Williams Jr., Bruce Katz and more.

After last year's lineup i feel this one is a tad underwhelming. That being said I'm ordering tickets during the presale & will again try like hell to get into the pre-jam.

Last year was a great lineup, moved quickly and having Holly Bowling playing between set change was cool

What I came here to learn. So we don't know what Classic TAB entails? Can't imagine the horns not being at something like this, tbh...

^ that Kamasi show is actually the weekend before the Christmas Jam.

Also, if I recall properly last time Trey was billed as "Classic TAB" it was a 4 piece. Trey, Tony, Russ & Ray P. Could be wrong though.

Just did a little research. In 2008 "Classic TAB" toured as a 4 piece. In 2010 he again used the "Classic TAB" moniker for a tour with the same 4 piece w/ the 3 piece horn section of Cressman, Harstwick & Remmington. Which is essentially the same band he's been playing with the last few years with a different sax player & sans Cyro. No clue why they wouldn't just bill it as "Trey Band" if it wasn't something different than the regular band he's been playing with. I guess we'll have to wait & see.

pre jam is usually my favorite besides a headliner or two i really wanna checkout. its not a grueling 8 plus hours.
i never have gotten the marathon aspect down yet though ive planned every time. i always end up seeing people from all times of my life randomly and last minute and it turns into a bug-eyed toothgrinding awesome catchup/ragefest of 48 hours qverseen by good ole warren. bless his heart.

now i kinda convinced myself i will definately wanna go after being fairly unenthused earlier.
yeah!

Yeah the more I think about it the more stoked i am too. The ABB tribute thing ought to be a blast & im assuming that with Brandon Niederauer there we will see some sort of Col. Bruce tribute Jam as well.

I guess I'm just not a fan of the Avetts or Blackberry Smoke & when two bands you don't really like are two of the biggest names there it seems like a bummer. Honestly after last year though it's not like this year could've competed anyway.

I'm sure fun will still be had.

i dont care for the allmans tribut deal, blackberry smore and especially the aveets. but, there is always something so unexpected and amazing its soo much fun. with trey there and holly and others the abb tribute at warren bread and butter yearly thing will probably be soo fuckin sweet. i reall hope the TAB is the trio. that was and is my favorite nonphish trey and is soo sweet, imo obv.

Flying down in the AM. Wish we were able to but no pre-jam for us, think Friday may just be catching up with some friends at Jack of the Wood. Nothing confirmed for Saturday yet.

I have 3 tickets i got for free for myself, the mother of my child and a friend who may back out. The back out is very probable.

Let me know if you want to go and dont have a ticket. I will save it for whoever asks first and will give it to u for free of course. It is probably more than 85% chance of her not going and being yours

I've got a dear dear friend that is looking for tickets if no one else here claims them I'd be elated to help her out. I've actually been thinking of buying a few in the secondary market for her anyway.

You trying to do pre-jam too?

Nice offer, freethought. I was tempted but RDF's friend is sure to have a better time than me (due to my shingles :( ).

But Tuesday might be too late to let him know? Isn't the show this Saturday?

EDIT: I too would like to rage with you, freethought. Either of you going to Griz on the 30th? I have no idea what Griz is but it sounds fun?

Dang! I was also going to listen for a few hours, then switch over to the Hot Tuna / Kimock stream.

We have 7" fresh snow up in Madison county but did not know Asheville was getting much.

If anyone is in town looking for possibilities. Soul Monde (Ray P & Russ from TAB) & Roosevelt Collier are at the Music Hall tonight. I figure if we have any chance at hearing some Xmas Jams tonight that's the only shot.

Well this Warren kinda thinks he sucks. I know I'm like the only one who thinks so, but it reeks of unoriginality to me.

To be fair his set was just a "tweener" set on the side of the stage while changeover between bands.

Also as my internet friends y'all are supposed to be responsible for clueing me into new music. So why on earth has no one mentioned Margo Price before? She probably had the best set top to bottom of the whole night.

I mean she's been everywhere for like the past 18months.
Signed to Jack White's Third Man Records, with several releases under that umbrella this year alone.
Couple big tours with Chris Stapleton, as well as several high profile festival gigs. Not to mention a strong endorsement from Willie Nelson who, I believe, invited her out for some shows.
She went big in 2018 for sure. She also has a bit of a "fuck you" attitude that seems to make its way into the forefront of her vibe, which I'm sure people get a kick out of. Lots of pictures of her smoking weed and such, including one with Willie on his bus.

Saw her back in February, and frankly I thought it was kinda middle of the road. Like, it wasn't bad, but I was having a hard time picking up on what everyone else was raving about. It was fine I guess. Not really in much of a rush to see the show again.
