yes

run (or ski or skate in winter) 2-3 times/week
gym 2 times/week (usually lift plus more intense cardio)
pilates 1/week

So, at least 45 mins of exercise 5-6 days/week

plus I rarely drive and walk everywhere: 3 miles round trip to the office plus extra running errands or just going on walks for the hell of it.

yes.

Barre class M,W,F
Try to squeeze in a yoga or pilates class when I can.
Hike or walk the dog before or after work.
The mountain just opened so I shred every Thursday and on weekends I am up early for first chair shred for 2-3 hours> snowshoe w/ the dog.
I also like to ride my 4 wheeler but I am not sure if that counts as exercise?

I try to get to my cross fit class 3x a week. I usually lift or cardio it the other 2 days. Weekends I hike.

I'm probably active 5-6 days a week...and lately that isn't enough. I'm fat. I hate it. I eat too much pizza and I'm old and it's not as easy as it used to be.

Yes. Swim laps three days per week. Usually go for a long (3 to 5 mile) walk one day a week.

Swimming helps keep me sane.

Yoga 3-5 days a week. Lots of walking around. Try to eat a mostly vegetarian diet otherwise known as flexitarian. Hard to eat well when the kids are here.

I should get more cardio but whatever. I'm just a dude with a lot of priorities.

so....are you all satisfied with your current health/weight?

i fall into it and out of it. all summer and fall i was pretty good about running regularly. around october i dropped off and need to pick it back up. was going to start yesterday but it started raining when i got out of work, will take my first run in a few months today. not looking forward to the struggle, am looking forward to getting back on track.

did you say extra fries?

i'm currently a "no" when it comes to exercise. i walk from the train station to my office and vice versa each day, that's maybe 30 minutes of regular walking combined.

working out is definitely not happening in the evenings based on current work schedules for wife and i. only chance for it to happen is if i wake up earrrrrrrrly to do it, and i'm already up before 6am each day, so that'll be a tough habit to get into.

all that said, i need to do SOMETHING, cause it's not good to be stagnant

i cant eat right unless i exercise. i cant exercise unless i eat right. it has to be both in order for either to work.

Not even close to satisfied. Between pulled muscles, surgery and ongoing pain/shots/necessary rest- I’m not even close to where I want/need/should be.

I really miss running. It was the fastest way to keep me in check.

It’s extremely frustrating and occupies a large percentage of my thoughts all day. The other occupants are mostly food/drinking thoughts.

fee you need to look at swimming or ellipticals as an alternative, especially with injuries. low impact stuff can be very impactful.

I love the elliptical for intervals. I'm not a particularly light person, and doing that shit while running is tough on the knees and ankles.

I hadn't planned on doing it but my cousin is fucking nuts. He has 2 assault bikes, rowing erg, ski erg, big ass rack with 10' targets, a shitload of rubber plates, kettle bells, medicine balls and dumb bells. Also just bought some sort of stand for reverse sit ups. i originally wante dto just go over there a couple of times a week and use the rowing erg but got conned into doing workouts with him.

I'm getting stronger but I need to rev up the cardio & diet as I'm not losing any weight. He's been at it for 3 years and is hoping to go to the crossfit games in Milwaukee next year.

that's the rack & ski erg

i used to just do running but last month switched to a mix of weights and/or cardio/hiit about 5 -6 days/week plus a day of just stretching and balance work
we'll see how it goes

am i satisfied with my current health/weight? i think i am pretty healthy and i think i look alright. i'm sure i could lose another ten pounds but i am also sure no matter what i weighed or looked like, i would always think i could lose another 5-10 lbs

The filthy 50 is the worst and it’s on monthly rotation at my place.

I have to modify the crap out of it all now. When I think i don’t have to, it’s so bad the next day. No more box jumps, no more weighted squats. No more lunges at all. No more running. :(
Crossfit is torture on the body but it’s a super quick way to get shit done and it changes daily- which is why I like it and keep going.
The other classes/cardio is so damn boring in comparison.

JBK- I know. I just have exercise ADD, bad.

Yes. I am very fit. I tend to take it easy in the summer and just play in the mountains and often feel 'fat' then and have to remind myself that I am still in shape. Come spring I'll feel like superman.

Main reason why I can’t wait for my pool to be done (and for it to be spring so it can be used).

I can’t do public pools. I just can’t. They freak me out. When I think I can, I try and see hairs and gross things floating. For some reason, at hotels, I’m ok because I’m most likely not treading or possibly swallowing it but at exercise places? I just can’t. Plus I look over and see the older folks doing water aerobics and just imagine all the pee.

vibes fee
it would be really hard for me not to be able to run, do jumps, do squats (queen of jump squats, here)
and i agree that elliptical training is boring

Try to hit the gym 3-4 days a week. Run 3-4 miles on treadmill, then weights, machines, legs, ab stuff depending on the day. Has been more like 2-3 days a week with school taking up time outside of work

Love the Filthy 50.

James...

I'll PM you the link to my coach's website, and he posts a WOD M/W/F. Not all of them are tailored to a traditonal gym work space...but you can modify and get an idea of what the deal is.

It's the best thing I've ever done. It's always different, and always a challenge. Quick, intense and you get results.

What we did today...

Quote:
Xfit WOD:

Max rounds in 2 minutes of;

3 Power cleans (115/75)

6 push ups

9 squats

Rest 1 minute. Repeat for a total of 4 cycles.

Then…after last rest period,

150 Wall Balls (total) 20/14 **10 time cap (if you and your partner finish before time is up, that’s your rest.)

And den….

With a running clock of 4 minutes do as many burpees to plate jumps, alternating between partners.

Pull up work;

4×10

Rogue is addictive as shit, like a golf addiction.

I just setup a Rogue R3 power rack and a bunch of accessories. No more needing to battle to get to the gym. Currently in week 5 of SS post golf season, starting to get real fucking hard.

intervals with the ski erg or row erg kick my ass but are one hell of a workout. When i started I couldn't do 50 burpees bar over and I just beat my time from the last time. It's not a great time by any means but I beat my last shitty time by over a minute last week.

I just need to focus more on the diet (which sucks at this time of year) and more cardio on non crossfit days

Right. I can do some mean push ups and sit-ups, ring rows, empty bar squats, Wall balls, etc.

Today I did an emom power snatch with an empty bar and then row, KB snatches, step ups (instead of box jumps) and shoulder to overhead.
Sucks.

The worst is looking at my journal and seeing how pathetic I’ve become :(
Oh, and that my friend took over my journal, assuming I wasn’t going to use it anymore, to start tracking her progress.
But...it is what it is.

i dont think my weak ass, prone to dislocating shoulder will allow me to do much on weights, unfortunately. i see people doing crossfit workouts and it looks appealing, but i know my shoulder cant take it.

But that's still a good workout....

I suck at lunges. We do 95lb lunges all the time, and I just can't. I use a 45lb plate.

We finished our WOD with 4 minutes of burpees to plate today. Do a burpee and jump on a plate. It was awful. The whole WOD exhausted everything you need for burpees so that 4 min was hell.
