This opens up the chance that a Republican could take his seat.

why are democrats taking the moral high ground and republicans doubling down on sexual asault?

is it possible that the average republican voter endorses sexual assault?

By not owning up to his groping - what he comes off as saying is that just because multiple people come out accusing you of something doesn't mean they are telling the truth.

He is doing the right thing. I have been majorly bummed about this. Franken seemed to have the best interest of all Americans in mind. I hope that he can do whatever it takes to move beyond this, atone for it and then step back into some role that drives the discourse forward and shapes politics for purely selfish reasons. If the allegations are true my hope is for those folks to heal and move forward as well.

So you support his actions, since they're exactly what trump did (except he didn't brag about it, of course), right?

I'd expect him to be more forthcoming about this once the legal issues surrounding it are settled.

No. I think he should have admitted wrongdoing if he did those things.

He said some of the allegations are untrue and that others he remembers much differently than the ones accusing him.

I took that as more of a smh, not supportive....i agree he said that he remembers different and some things are just lies about him. But that pic Al....did he ever explain that?

Good. It had to happen.

Gov. Dayton will tap a solid progressive in the interim. 2018 Midterms could have a lot of local Repubs vying for the seat. Not sure they have much of a chance, but it could be close. Dayton is not running in 2018, so it could be more likely for a Repub to take the Governorship.

Republicans have a better than average chance of winning a senate seat in Minnesota, based on the 2016 election results, but it'd still be a pretty big stretch.

So what do these people do now? Like now that they resigned?

Does Matt Lauer ever work in tv again? Charlie Rose? Where do these senators and people go?

I liked Al prior to these allegations coming to light, but IMO the Democrats cannot tolerate this. I am already pretty annoyed how party leadership waffled instead of being decisive in the first place, but better late than never. Thanks to all these Senate women who finally stood up and called out this bullshit.

Minnesota has a deep bench of popular, progressive politicians. Next one up.

be with their families, hope their marriages dont crumble, and live their lives. less so for franken, but charlie rose and matt lauer dont ever have to work again if they dont want to and if they managed their money responsibly all these years. if i was them, id fade away on a nice long vacation.

i mean, i appreciated and encouraged his work as a politician, but you gotta draw the line in the sand somewhere and not make exceptions.

Yep, this issue goes beyond the letter next to their names. He should have resigned when the original allegation came out (more accurately: he should have resigned when he came out and confirmed that the allegations were true).

Good.

Dems making sure they’re on the right side of history, while the RNC backs Roy Moore.
