Since you guys were on the edge of your seats waiting for my input, here it is (after only one listen):

Umphrey's McGee - It's Not Us

The Silent Type: Not only is this the worst song on the album, it's the first song they released to showcase it, and the first track! Shows bad judgement and does not bode well for the rest of the album! Just irritating to listen to.

Looks: This is a weird one. It sounds good. Hints of Genesis (80's) in the production. I like the chorus. The "guitar solo" is one of those "just feedback the whole time" misfires. Nice synthy bridge.

Whistle Kids: Bluesy. Unexpected. It's nice to hear them slow it down. It still has an interesting progression. If you hate Brendan's vocals (which I know you all do) then you might not like it, but I think you'd probably agree that it's not a terrible song, voice withstanding.

Half Delayed: I like this one. It reminds me of Tears For Fears. Not a whole lot going on, but a very enjoyable, short listen.

Maybe Someday: Ah, here we go. The album is officially beginning. This is a good song. I dig it. Lot's of instrumental sections and it goes a bunch of places. 6.5 minutes long.

Remind Me: Starts out standard almost generic jamband type progression. Then the chorus hits and changes everything. Good harmonies. Then it goes back to jamband > cool chorus again > WTF HARD PIVOT to heavy metal. I dig it. Halfway through, generic jamband with cool chorus goes ballistic. Drums are bitchin here. Most of the 7 minute run time is dedicated to metal.

You and You Alone: This is really pretty. It reminds me of earlier Umphrey's. Great vocals. Reminds me a bit of a prettier Monkey on the Train.

Forks: Another weird prog number. I'll take it. Not metal prog. Kind of an 80's synth pop prog. I like it.

Speak Up (Feat. Joshua Redman): It's got saxophone! I love saxophone! It's a funky number. I like it.

Piranhas: An enjoyable 4 minute, unoffensive light-prog number. Hard to say more without more listens.

Dark Brush: Starts like it's going to be a heavy shred-a-thon. Sort of is. Prog-metal. I really like everything about this song. You're mileage will vary, since you probably hate Umphrey's McGee (More like Umphrey's (in-before)McKids-in-the-front-row, amirite?) Great way to close the album.

Yes, I accidentally posted this before I was finished and had to delete it. Congrats, if you were blessed enough to witness my fuck-up.

Album is streaming now on your music service, if you have a music service (you should have a music service... I recommend Google Music All Access).

It's a brick and mortar building in which one may go and buy plastic discs that produce music when used in tandem with the appropriate machinery and witchcraft.

Gave the album a spin on Saturday. Production was very good and I enjoyed it. Remind Me and Dark Brush are going to split some wigs live. Liked piranhas, looks, and speak up a lot too

Listened more. Like it more. You &You Alone is a very pretty number with a great arrangement. Maybe Someday is now stuck in my head. Hoping to hear some of these when they swing through Columbus.
