Just picked up Photosynthesis and it is hands down the best game I've played recently, and not just b/c I'm a tree nerd. Awesome multi-level strategy game, everyone I've played it with loved it.

My gaming group is starting Charterstone tonight. Have heard great things, also pretty excited about that.

On the subject of nerdy strategy games, as if there's any other kind, we've been playing Cytosis a lot lately which is also very fun:

I've heard great things about evolution, but haven't played it yet. Definitely on my list. I'm a sucker for biology games

theantdog recently got me into Quiddler (more of a card game than a board game) and Settlers of Catan. Both fun but I sucked at the latter.

I def recommend the ones I posted above.

Machi Koro is another kick ass game if you're into city building/strategy games. I think you need to get the base game plus the harbor expansion pack to make it really fun though.

I also really like Mystery of the Abbey, though sadly it is out of print. I think you can still find copies floating around though.

It's like Clue only not dumb and actually fun

My FIL made us a Pegs and Jokers board for Christmas.

Looks similar to this...

(it's a fun game!)

Big game & puzzle family. I am looking for some new games that teens can join in with the olds for (Warpars rec falls in here), but also some games that 2-8 adults can enjoy. Strategy games are in our wheelhouse, along with team (pairs or more) games.

Gonna look into Photosynthesis a bit more, looks interesting

Check out Pandemic. Awesome game in which the players work as a team against the game to try to save the world.

Been buying the kids board games for Xmas for a few years.

Got Sushi Go, Codenames, Outfoxed and Blokus this year.

All recommended.

Some of our favorites:
Mansions of Madness II
Dead of Winter
Eldrich Horror
Camp Grizzly (if you're a fan of 80's Slasher's)

Wife and I like spooky themed games. :facepalm4:

Not a board game specifically, but I bought Secret Hitler to play with my class as we read George Orwell. The kids love it, and I always get puzzled looks from people when I tell them we play a game called Secret Hitler

I've actually thought of it often since then & would like to eventually pick up a board.

That is a beautiful looking game. Might have to pick that one up to play with the kids.

You are the first & only person I've heard who spent any time playing the game at the festival that shall remain nameless.
the MIL & FIL got me a board for Christmas.
I like it. Once you learn the vibe it's pretty fun.

Might be a little tough for kids under 8ish, in case that applies

Otherwise I definitely recommend it. Really fun: complex enough to remain interesting through multiple plays, but a very elegant ruleset nonetheless.

I have never heard of chickapig but am now intrigued.
