this came through my twitter feed and got me all fired up for baseball. Feel free to add anything baseball related.

I have no recollection of this event. But I've watched that clip about 15 times already. I love it.

Great vid!
Dibble, Lou & Eric Greg all in one clip.

I dont recall that play either but its hardly surprising with Dibble.

Looking forward to the season...but my teams will SUCK.
Braves are at least a year or 2 away from even looking like they're trying and the Rays are selling anyone with a pulse.

To follow that

If Gwynn ONLY faced the best rotation of my lifetime he would still be in the HOF.
Maddux used to call him "Fucking Tony Gwynn" because he couldn't get him out.

that's just ridiculous

another fun stat: Joe DiMaggio struck out a total of 369 times in his 13 year career, or an average of 34 a season. In 1941, he K'd only 13 times

My boy Aaron Judge hit 13 K's in less than a week last year

Back in the bad old days of baseball, that was a totally legitimate way to get someone out.

And yes I'm psyched for baseball season. It's the only professional sport I really like.

They just really need to stop changing it.

this is an odd criticism. Of all the sports, it's the one that's changed the least over the last century. Mike Trout is, essentially, playing the same game Babe Ruth did. I think that's part of the appeal of it, no?

We agree completely. But things like instant replay and the new blocking the bag rules are really changing the game in crucial ways.

Taking out a catcher/rough baseball is/was historically a huge part of the sport.

I don't even want instant replay. I know that seems crazy to some, but as far as I'm concerned, umps, and their calls, blown or not, are part of the tradition of the game.

Last but not least...I hope I'll live to see the A's win a World Championship again. If not, I would humbly submit that the 2012 Oakland A's are the most enjoyable team in the history of baseball that didn't win it all. They were so much fun to watch, and won a ridiculous number of games on the final out:

That may be, but call me the next time you see an outfielder flip a ball 375 feet to a catcher the way a shortstop flips a ball to a second baseman.

Wish the A's kept him. He is one of the most talented baseball players I have ever seen. I am reminded of his first major league home run, which was hit in typical April Oakland conditions, where most baseballs travel at the speed of Valium.

Can’t wait for baseball. Rob Dibble does the 5:00 drive time show for ESPN CT. He does a good job.

Remember when Jason Heyward was going to be the next Ken Griffey jr or Willie Mays

I think Acuna will be good but it is going to be tough for someone his age to deal with those expectations

Acuña is what I’m most excited about too DBD. I’m predisposed to be ready for disappointment with most touted Braves prospects (Franceour, Heyward), but I fully expect Acuña to deliver. I’m sure he’ll stay in triple A for a few weeks so we can get the extra year of contractual control.
Braves won’t be a playoff team this year, but hopefully they’ll be worth watching with a lot of young pieces making it to the big league.

Good news on the stadium front though, they are looking to build a new one in Ybor City. They’ll finally move out of that shitty dome in St Pete.

I'd love the stadium to be in Ybor....makes much more sense. It brings Orlando into play and even Gainesville to a lesser extent.
Plus the area around the park would have stuff to do whichbis lacking in St.Pete

It’s not bad. The problem isn’t lack of amenities in the area, it’s that the stadium is a massive PITA to get to as it’s so far away from the bulk of the population in the area.
Getting to the current stadium from Tampa for a 7:05 start time is ridiculous, and most people chose not to bother.
