going to TX in Nov. Checked out pollstar to see if any bands are worth driving to from San Antonio. Spafford on Sat is the only band I've heard of, fml.

I'm not - I'm seeing them in Denver earlier in the day at their VIP show.

They crushed it at Hulaween. Saw them in NYC after Phish and it was a lot of fun, but packed. The late night show especially was just killer. One of the best shows of the weekend.

Gotta say they were really fun this past weekend.

I was pretty spun, but I kept hearing teases of so many other bands (mainly phish) in their songs. one song sounded like maze to me so much but I don't think it was maze.

either way. super fun time.

I think what impresses me most about this new wave of bands like spafford, twiddle and pigeons playing ping pong is how they all somehow managed to come up with even dumber names than Umphreys McGee.

That's pretty amazing.

spafford does not strike me as on that level. meaningless, sure, but not on the level of String Cheese Incident awfulness.

Not really. Maybe helped with exposure, but you have to be good to gain traction. Exposure only gets you so far.

I've not heard a note of this band. Are they worth $17+fees and an hour and half roundtrip drive?

Disregarding spafford specifically, 90 minuets is not a bad drive for good live music

right. for me and all that entails going out to a show nowadays, I would reserve that trip for a band that I like.

45 minutes for a good show isn’t bad.

Enjoy Brez! Come to LA!

that is sort of where I'm at. But this is Central PA. We don't get show like this very often. It is a Saturday night, although I doubt I could convince Mrs JW69 to see a 3rd tier jamband she's never heard. Most of my local crew would not indulge this band.

They’re good. Definitely worth checking out. And if you’re in an area where you have to drive for shows anyhow, then 45 minutes to see these guys is definitely worth it.

they are playing at a place where they very well could play to less than 100 people. Unless they are more well known that I think they are.

I saw the Dean Ween Group at this place and maybe there were 200 people? I've also seen Clutch at this place and it was sold out (~800-1000 people) Hell I saw Dark Star Orchestra here 17 years ago and it was sold out and people were taping!

I doub't it sells out, so I'll keep it on my radar.
