9 months today, never felt better. The furthur I get away from it, the more I can't believe what a slave I was to alcohol.
Cheers!

Damn...congrats guys! Glad to see everyone doing so good.

I passed 7 months on 8/2. Saw 10 Phish shows completely sober. Even met up with some folks at a few bars and didn't feel tempted at all. Didn't go to any pre-show meetups, just afterwards a few nights, and went to a few aftershows. Everyone I kicked it with was super supportive. It was awesome.

Paid off rehab today. All 4 of my visits to the same place.

First time Jan 2008. Been writing them a $50 check every month since then.

Plus a couple thousand or so down each time

It's unfortunate that it's so costly for people to get the help that they need. Were you uninsured during your rehab stints?

So much goodness in this thread. SO much.

Although I've never been a drinker I shared about my opiate addiction (mostly on the old phook). Addiction feeds off many sources, and threads like this one DO help, no matter where you come from.

THANKS. Keep it up.

I love reading this thread.
Congratulations to you all and the major accomplishments.
It really is inspiring to me with things in my life that I sometimes feel I have no control over. If that makes sense.
Regardless, it does to me. This thread is slowly helping me and I love it.
Keep on keeping on folks.
Amazing.

Went out to dinner with januszak last night, usually that involves lots of beers and questionable decisions regarding driving.
Got pulled over 2 blocks from my house for doing 44 in a 35. Trooper asked where I was coming from, asked if I'd had any drink and was able to say "not a one". Told to slow it down and have a good night. :)

Going back to my rehab and telling my story today. A little nervous, but hopeful that my story will help others. Also gonna bring homemade cookies.

Congrats Warpar!!

It went great actually! I got some really good feedback and gave hope to some folks that really were appreciative. I spoke with one guy afterwards and he really connected with my story. It felt really great to give back.

I was nervous leading up to it, and had written it out first along with an outline. Just so I wouldn't ramble and have some direction when speaking. I didn't read off of it at all, I just wanted to make sure I covered everything I intended on covering. A couple of people commented on how it was nice to see that I prepared and didn't just wing it. I also brought a picture of me prior to the weightloss too. They loved that.

Checking in. Things have been getting so much better in my life right now! Working paying bills paying my share of my sons school. I feel great about myself and that's a much better high than any drug. Still like to blast N.I.B.
