i missed them a couple of years ago when i was in c-bus ohio.... it was a week night show and i got super excited to go see Elder, so after work i went home and crushed too many beers too fast. the show was at bar/venue with openers, so Elder started late. i went to bed before they were even on stage

maybe tickets 50% sold so plenty of room to dance :wook

Phil is was sober. Came out with a can of coke and said "my new drink " actuality no one was drinking on stage.

Lot of good banter from phil. We all go to heckle him and jimmy at the show. It was that empty you could talk to them on stage. It was like a metal show in my living room.

What venue? Cool that it was intimate but not cool as a reflection on a well known band in a major market.

The Gramercy Theater in NYC. Also GnR was at MSG last night. that might have had something to do with the poor attendance

Did we have a go-to thread on this board for solid YTs and recs? Or did it die with the old phook?
Can't remember.

This band is opening up for Elder tonight. King Buffalo. Never heard of them but I am digging this tune:

ETA: full album here. think I am going to enjoy this band.

That first Superjoint record is classic. Have tickets to see them this spring. Not really digging the last album. Wish Down would get back together.

Agree, I did not really dig the new Superjoint. Production was really muddy and sounded kind of bad. Think it was self produced.

Down getting back together would be great. Have not seen them play in about 10. Remember when Down IV EP came out? They were supposed to knock out shorter albums like that, 4 in a row, with a year and a half in between.

Down IV p2 came out 5/2014.

just saw this:

I liked the first Illegals album a lot, thought it was pretty brutal and great.

His other band Scour has one coming out in a few weeks, an EP. I was not really a fan of the first one.

That sounds exactly like something PA would say. He's full of dumb sounding word phrases lime that when he talks.

He's a he'll of a metal vocalist though.

I miss Pantera...

Yeah, I thought that shit might go away after he stopped drinking but I guess that shit is embedded deep in his soul.

alright, kids are in bed, I am out the door and off to see some stoner metal.

Let us know how it goes! I'm seeing them on Thursday the 26th.

Also going solo. Kind of fun sometimes. I do wish my friends liked more music though. Bluegrass is cool, but there's more out there.

Great show! Elder was great. They probably played for an hour, maybe a little longer than that. 6 or songs, I am guessing. Only drawback was the people in my area. I don't know how you can stand so still while watching music. I know I take it to extremes and can dance to anything, but not even nodding your head? C'mon now.
They played Sanctuary, Falling Veil, Dead Roots Stirring, Compendium, Blind, maybe one more.
King Buffalo was great, make sure to see their set.
I need to invest in some better earplugs, though. I brought some foam ones, did not have them in for Summoner, the band on stage when I walked in. Loud enough that I knew I should wear them. Put them in for King Buffalo. Thing with the foam is that they take out TOO much at times. King Buffalo was pretty loud and feedbacky so it was a good thing, but when Elder came on, I felt like I was missing a bit of the vibe. That coupled with all the statues around me made me feel like I was in danger of not really getting into it. So I took them out for Elder, probably not a good thing but oh well.

Gotta love small shows where you can get a t-shirt for $15.

yeah, the earplug thing is tough. I've only ever had the foam ones and they almost always end up in my pocket.

when you guys say this:

"Wish Down would get back together"

what does that mean? is Down the name of a band you like?

that king buffalo from up above was killer also.

I guess I'm always looking for someone who sounds like black Sabbath and they were kinda like that.
