So Wysh is taking over the helm at ESPN. Could be awesome if they give him resources to his job.

Pretty great opening ceremony in the VGK first home game

I like those home jerseys as well...

That was well done. The team came out strong as well in that first period.

Same. For the Devils, I mean. But also for the Wings

Topsy turvy thus far this season...NJ, COL, VGK, DET were all widely expected to be terrible

Still very early, of course.

Heard an interview with Eddie o today talking about chemo and doing a few broadcasts soon. He's halfway through treatment.

He is doing tomorrow night at the united center too. And apparently will be doing a pair of games whenever he feels up to it, based on his chemo schedule.

That's good to hear. Eddie O is a great person and an announcer. Even if he tries too hard to be anti Penguins when he calls their games.

Well even though he coached the pens he is definitely a hawks homer.

He did sound a little shaky in the parts of last nights game that I watched but I'm glad he was there.

The Pens need a different backup goalie. Its like when Nemi plays they don't even bother to play.

When they are bad, they are really bad...

Kucherov - Stamkos - Namestnikov just torching everyone.

Best line in the league RN

both Kuch and Stamkos are on 9 game point streaks

There is zero chance the Pens 3peat. So many teams in the east are much better! Playoff hockey in the east is going to be good this year!

Meh too early to really say much of anything. I need at least one more week of games to truly get a feel.

But right now I'd say the Lightning and Leafs are looking legit

Flyers look very good and I think will remain in the hunt

PIT and WAS both look reasonably strong as well

Devils will fade but remain a fun team to watch (my ideal scenario)

Rangers look like trash but I feel like they climb back in it

Habs are a tire fire. They're done

Don't really have a read on any of the other teams b/c I haven't really watched them play yet.

Well they tanked on purpose to get their three best players of all time to get those cups. Much like the Blackhawks.

Devils 9-2, best start to a season in franchise history

I am slowly coming around to the concept that they might actually be a good team, instead of just a fun bad team.

To be clear they are definitely not as good as that record but may be better than I think they are.

Hall has been a beast this season.

Tampa looks like the class of the NHL right now. Stamkos and Kucherov are just destroying teams.

Blues have looked very good to me also

Still liking what Philly is doing. Detroit is way better than expected, I haven't watched a single Wings game yet.

Rangers showing some signs of life. I'm not counting that team out yet, but the C depth is really bad

Arizona, Buffalo, Montreal are trash piles

Edmonton's been hugely disappointing also. Chiarelli fucking that team up already

No surprise that Duchene is out of Colorado. That's a heck of a trade though. That puts Ottawa in good shape.

I'm never that optimistic about the Flyers but I genuinely see a cohesiveness to this squad. They might be a sneaky team this year.

Looks like it never came together, but still talk of a Duchene to Ottawa deal involving Turris and possibly the Preds. No Ekholm.

Denver Post was saying they think it fell apart because, shocker, Sackic didn’t think he was getting enough in returns

Sakic has had a really long leash. If he isn't who he is he would have been gone a long time ago.

The rumored return I saw was like, multiple high picks and a prospect

what does he think he's going to get?

I guess maybe he wants a hockey trade and is holding fast for an NHL ready defenseman?

Better off with the futures IMO...just look at what Adam Larsson cost.

Duchene has been playing well this year overall. Joe probably thinks if he waits until closer to the trade deadline he will get a top d man and some draft picks.

That's the trade Elliotte Friedman reported on after saying the deal involving Ekholm fell through

That's awesome, love a three way trade

Yeah, EDM is the biggest disappointment so far. People had them in the running for the cup this year. That’s not going to happen unless they turn it around right really soon.

Their depth is bad. They look amazing when McDavid is on the ice, and very pedestrian when he is not.

Just watched that Sports On Fire EP about the 72 Super Series. Christ Clarke was a ruthless bastard. What a great watch.
