I'll be there tomorrow, late afternoon/early evening, and am looking for a solid place for dinner and another spot for a brew. Taking a nice run around campus but that's my only plan so far. Any recs are appreciated. I'll have a little time there in the morning, too.

Thanks in advance, phook.

Hit up Karben4 for a couple beers for sure.

Awesome. For dinner, highly recommend the Old Fashioned on capital square. Get the fried cheese curds and a fried walleye sandwich (also great cheese and meat platters and a huge local beer selection). Get a beer at Memorial Union, either in the Rathsheller or on the Terrace if the weather is good. Walk up State Street in between Memorial Union and the Capital. For a longer run, run through campus, up Bascom Hill, then along the lake out towards Picnic Point.

Lots of student bars on and near State Street. The Plaza is one of my faves. Classier establishments around the Capital. Tornado Room is always great too if you want a higher end dinner.

Strictly Discs if you like record stores.

Thanks for the recs. I think The Old Fashioned and Karben4 are in my future. Hoping to hit Strictly Discs, too. I really appreciate it, y'all.

Have a blast on state street. Haven't been there in years.
Cheers.

Thanks for the recs. Ate at Old Fashioned and got the walleye sandwich, sampled some curds, wondered around town a bit and grabbed a 6er of Karben4 IPA and cruised back to hotel to finish work.

Had a great time and the sandwich was spot on. Seems like a really cool town. Wish I had more time there and will try to make it back.
