Dug that first set. Meat>Maze was hot. Antelope was good. A little random but I liked it a lot.

Second set was phenomenal. I'll take a second set like tonight's at every show.

Meat > Maze was good. Could've done without Waiting All Night and Heavy Things. Not to mention one of the worst butcherings of Guyute I've heard in a while. Weird placement for some of the other first set tunes as well IMO.

That being said, set two was great. Easily the best set of the run thus far. I'm glad that the show got better as it went on.

I agree. After I typed "weakest set of the run so far?" tonight I almost went back to add that if that one ends up being the least favored by most fans it says a lot about the level of their performances.

To me, it sort of feels like the opposite of summer tour last year and most others in 3.0 with the exception of maybe 2015. Instead of the band throwing down a show or two out of the entire tour that clearly had some thought put into the song selection as well as practiced enough that their playing so noticeably above the level of what we've grown to consider average shows the last decade or so.

Seems like they rehearsed the bust outs they wanted to nail and even learned a new tune or two to debut each night. A lot has changed since the 90s so we can't expect them to be as tight and driven to be centered completely around their job but I can't help but be reminded of summer 98 when they treated fans to a random cover or two each night.

First set was my least favorite. Kind of sloppy, some uninspired jams, but a nice antelope that salvaged it a bit. Second set was great. This entire run has been incredible. The only two sets I've been a bit meh on were first set first night and first set tonight.

Now, that's the correct way to drop into the Mike's 2nd jam

Where? Mikes was fine. Taste too, but it's a fun jazz song - not exactly packed with energy. From then on out, it's a fairly chill set. Winsguit did not go for power. Nor did Sally. Weekapaug gave us about 30 seconds of rock. (I also thought the concept of O Holy Night was great, but it missed on execution).

The music is fine. I'm just not hearing heat.

I haven't listened yet...and I hate to complain because everything has been so wonderful.

But noone wants to hear wingsuit there. I LOVE Sally, and was really looking forward to a monster. Tad bit disappointed.

I thought the Wingsuit placement was good. If anything, maybe remove Sally and just jam out Groove further. But again, that's nitpicking after a great set.

I guess it's preference because I liked it as a cool down song. Thought it flowed in and out pretty well. Both Fuego songs were really good. Agreed they could've done more with Sally but I enjoyed what we got.

They haven't played Ghost yet, right? A second set of just Ghost>Sally>Ghost.

If only...

Really loved Mike's > O Holy Night > Taste. Doesn't get much better than that for 3.0 Mike's. I loved the song selection of Sally but the jam itself is pretty standard, and same for Weekapaug

Some people are saying the first set was a weaker set of the tour but I disagree. I loved the song selection and the evil vibe of set 1.

I think they're getting tired
Last 2 nights have paled in comparison to the first 8...still very very good...I just think they are wearing down.

Hopefully a day off and the energy of the final 3 will help kick it into higher gear.
Both set openers on Tue and 1st set opener last night were too low energy.

Loved the first set. Just a fun, dance your ass off set. Second set- not as much fun as the first.

Another great one though. Going to be sad this weekend to have it end.

I actually agree, 2nd set was good, nothing mindblowing, Mike's was long but more of an ambient vibe not machine gun style. I did like they went for the 2nd jam though, Taste was well played but went into left field and seemed like Trey didn't know how to end it. Wingsuit sucks the energy out of every set it's played in, Sally lacked the normal vocal jam. Weekapaug was average, Fucking hate ADITL encores.

just my opinion, I actually fell asleep on my couch during set 2, probably during wingsuit, this show was nothing compared to this past Sunday.

Absolutely.

Sometimes you read a persons opinion on a show and it's like ???, did we listen to the same concert?

This run is such a monster that this past Sunday's show felt like the tour closer to me. Monday had that day-after-tour-ends feel to it.

The tone of this whole board has been better since this run. It's like a string of great Phish shows have become the guardian that makes everyone play nice with each other.

Or the ice cream cone that keeps kids quiet and happy.

It's this shared (tough) love for the band that brought me here nearly 11 years ago.

i totally agree. last two nights first sets havent had as much energy. especially last night first set seemed straight up bad at times. second sets last two nights have been really solid though. but yeah, they looked tired last night at times.

I mean, they aren't playing more frequently than normal, are they? They always play the same pattern of days, just travel in between, no?

I think they've played more back to back stretches in a shorter time frame. Three in a row, off, two in a row, off. That sort of thing.

Never in 3.0 have they played this regularly and delivered the same level of energy (even if just in the second set recently) at each show.

They're allowed to be a bit tired at this point in my book.

They should do a chill-vibe exploratory jam for the entirety of set one tomorrow and save some energy for Sat and Sun

That's not true at all. I just looked at summer 2015, and it's basically the same pattern of dates. Maybe an extra day off here or there when there's a long travel in between. 3-4 night runs are pretty common. One or two during the week.

I don't think this is really any different than any other summer, other than they get to set up camp in one spot, which should make it easier.

No, but there are Thursday>Sunday runs out there.

I'm just saying that this isn't some crazy amount of shows they're playing in a short time.

I think, if anything, the no repeats is making it hard. Let's face it...the list is wearing a little thin for the weekend.

Also, playing the same room over, and over again, might be getting old.

They also don't always web cast shows, so I think the fact that we can watch almost every night, makes it seem like there are more shows.
